Marcie DeFriese has been recognized for her efforts, and possibly saving the life of a male softball player at Bridgeton Municipal Athletic Complex (BMAC).
Though Marcie was umpiring and contracted with the City of Bridgeton, and at the time not working under the GSLAU, she reacted quickly at this time of need.
I DO NOT have all the facts, but this I was told-
After the game the players were exchanging post game "high fives" when a player fell unconscience. Marcie proceeded to give the player CPR until the medics and ambulance arrived. On behalf of her quick actions, the City of Bridgeton recognized Marcie during the Bridgeton Council meeting on Wednesday, 11-16-2011.
Though the player does not remember anything about her actions, nor the work of the para-medics, he is alive and has been released from the hospital.

The first person who retold this story to me was fellow umpire Gary Langhorst, who also works this City of Bridgeton Softball League.
My Father, Ferdinand Fetsch, sits on the Bridgeton City Council and has verified that she is indeed being recognized for her quick actions.
Now is the time for the GSLAU to say, "Marcie, job well done".
