Brought to you by some of the more experienced
officials in our association. Check back often!

Always call your partner before a game. The night before if possible is always best. This gives you the opportunity to discuss a number of things such as the location, where to park, anything that either of you know about the site that's changed. You can discuss the teams and if either of you have seen them before this season and anything about them that might help you officiate the game better. You should discuss assignments as well as mechanics. Don't forget to check on the uniform! It might be a cool day and your partner might prefer a pullover!

With our "Diamond" Game put away for the winter, NOW is the time to start preparing for 2011.
Check your equipment and replace, or, "step up" in quality.
Shin guards need new straps?
Your pads for your mask need replacing?
Is it time for your first pair of plate shoes?
Take a good look at your uniform. Has the sun faided your shirts and pants? A good indicator of needing new pants is looking at the material under your belt. If you can easily see 2 different colors, it's time for an upgrade.
Are your ball bags looking a little ragged?
Do you have the GSLAU patch on your shirt? You should.
Many distributors have great sales during the winter, take advantage of these - after all, you can claim these expenses as deductions when you file your 2010 tax forms.

Thanks to Jim Fetsch!
